“April Fool’s Day” came and went with some light hearted fun in the imaging industry. Photography has always been a great way to throw someone off; first it was done in the darkroom and now it is done in Photoshop. Every year we can expect some really funny pranks. Sometimes those pranks are actually some really great concepts for dream technology. Let’s take a look at some of the best “April Fool’s” jokes by the photographic community this year from around the internet.
Kodak has a sense of humor. They announced a new program called relationshiffft. “Photo and video person purge helps you move on. Kodak is pleased to announce a new app that helps you take managing your relationships to a new level. We protect precious memories of the places you have been and the people you shared them with, minus the person with whom you just changed your relationship status…” You can check it out at: http://1000words.kodak.com/thousandwords/post/?ID=8181863819447193778
The photographer Chase Jarvis who is a very public figure in the imaging industry these days posted a puzzle for us to figure out. Check out the image here and see if you can figure it out: http://blog.chasejarvis.com/blog/2011/04/who-stole-my-hair-happy-april-fools-day/
Another popular photo blog named “A Photo Editor” also had a couple of really great pranks…

PetaPixel is another popular imaging blog. They “announced” they were bought by Kodak. They also covered the truly cool concept technology that is unfortunately very fake called the RE-35 film cartridge. You can check it out here: http://www.re35.net/ . Basically it’s a “film cartridge” that can go into film cameras and transforms it into a digital camera. Also covered was an iPad app that would allow the user to control and operate their Canon DSLR wirelessly; watch the video here: http://youtu.be/Sn6iO_NGKaw
While google isn’t really a part of the imaging industry per say, they did however come up with a pretty useless ridiculous interesting technology concept that deserves mentioning. You can view the video here: http://youtu.be/Bu927_ul_X0
But that isn’t the best part. Someone, only a few hours after the video showed up online, created real software that actually did what Google’s concept video advertised. Check it out here: http://youtu.be/Lfso7_i9Ko8
So that’s just about it. We here at C.R.I.S. Camera Services hope that you had a wonderful April Fool’s Day. We will leave you with one other video that was very well orchestrated prank from one news anchor to another: http://youtu.be/isUFXNYT80k
Just one other thing, right now until the end of April 2011 we are giving 20% Off our DSLR Clean & Check… you can view and print the coupon here ==> http://www.criscam.com/AZSP2011.jpg
