The EOS 5D Mark III digital SLR cameras have been in the news as of late for a little issue. Apparently users were reporting a problem when the rear LCD panel illuminates in extremely dark environments, the camera’s perceived exposure value may change. Canon has investigated the phenomenon and has released a product advisory. Their findings of the EOS 5D Mark III phenomenon confirmed the issue. After their extensive testing, however, they also found in their results that this change in exposure value does not “noticeably affect” the captured image nor does light leak to the sensor. If you would like Canon to inspect your camera, they will provide this service free of charge upon request beginning in mid-May.
