About C.R.I.S.

C.R.I.S. stands for Camera Repair Instrument Service.

CRIS was founded by Mark Treadwell in late 1984 to distribute Kyoritsu camera repair and testing equipment to film camera manufacturers and camera repair businesses in North America. At the same time, CRIS took over the aftermarket service responsibilities fulfilled by the previous US distributor of Kyoritsu products. This included management and sales of spare parts inventory, warranty repairs and processing of return goods for Copal clocks, view camera shutters, dot matrix printers and Sekonic exposure meters. Coincidentally, the business shares the name of Mark’s wife, Chris.

In the 32 years since its founding CRIS has relocated from California to Arizona, expanded repair services to include dealer partner and fleet accounts, and added online sales of niche products such as mercury battery adapters, refurbished support equipment, and Sigma lens repair parts. CRIS also entered into various aftermarket service agreements with major imaging manufacturers including: Ricoh Americas Corporation, Sigma Corporation of America, Ricoh Imaging Americas Corporation, Manfrotto Distribution USA, RTS Inc., Canon USA Inc., Nikon Inc., Olympus America, Fuji Photo Film USA, and Rollei GmbH.
